Auli is a ski area in the northern India state of Uttarakhand, approximately 30 minutes south of the Nanda Devi mountain range in the Himalayas. The ski area's lone hotel, the Cliff Top Club, is adjacent to the skiing and snowboarding slopes. The hotel provides on-site dining and rentals for skiing gear and snowmobiles. Auli is approximately four hours away from the nearest airport in the Dehradun, the Jolly Grant, which receives flights from New Delhi.
The Cliff Top Club's guest rooms consist of a studio, one- and two-bedroom suites with kitchenettes, private balconies and living rooms with sleeper sofas. The two-bedroom suite, also referred to as the luxury family suite, has two levels, with a living room and bedroom on the bottom level and an additional bedroom on the top level. An extra fee will get you a suite with a view of India's Nanda Devi mountains. The rates increase on Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
This mountain hotel features a number of dining options, including the signature restaurant, Al-Fresco. This restaurant has a casual atmosphere, and it offers Mediterranean-style food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The hotel also has an outdoor terrace barbecue restaurant, which offers patrons panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Snacks and coffee are available at the Skedoo Cafe, and the hotel offers a convenience store that sells goods you can prepare in the kitchen in your suite. Food is also available at bonfire events the hotel hosts on the outdoor terrace; these events occur throughout the year.
The hotel's facilities include a car rental desk, snowmobile rentals and game room with pool tables and board games. A studio is available for yoga classes, and the hotel has a conference center for banquets and private parties. During the summer, the hotel can help arrange guided excursions for hiking, sightseeing and kayaking in the nearby artificial lake on Auli. Hotel tours also include pilgrimages to nearby sacred sites, including the Badrinath Temple in the Nanda Devi Mountains, approximately two hours away. In the event visitors need medical assistance, the hotel has an on-call doctor. A helipad is available for guests arriving to the resort via helicopter.
The Cliff Top Club's adjacent ski area has 20 slopes for skiers and snowboarders. Most of the slopes are for skiers with intermediate- to expert-level skills; however, beginners can use the 1,300-foot long Temple Trail. Visitors have access to ski lessons from Cliff Top Club's staff. Transportation is available to the top of the mountain via the ski resort's two lifts; one of them is a chair lift, while the other requires you to stand. This ski resort also boasts one of the longest cable trams in Asia, which stretches for 2 1/2 miles. Nordic skiing activities are also available on the resort's 8-mile cross-country trail.
