Wyspianski Hotels

Located in the heart of Kraków, Poland, the three-star Hotel Wyspianski caters to both business travelers and tourists. The hotel is a five-minute walk from Main Market Square, less than half a mile from Main Railway Station and 8.6 miles from Balice Airport. Hotel Wyspianski is decorated in an upscale, contemporary style that belies its Cold War exterior.

  1. History

    • The Hotel Wyspianski building was erected in 1963 where the childhood home of Stanislaw Wyspianski once stood. Wyspianski, beloved Polish modernist painter, poet, playwright and furniture designer, was born in 1869 and lived in Kraków until he died in 1907. Much of his art is still found around the city, such as the stained glass windows he designed for Holy Cross Church, the Franciscan church, the Dominican church and the Church of Our Lady. Many of his paintings are displayed in the Kraków Museum as well. In 1999, on the 130th anniversary of his birthday, the hotel building was named in honor of his artistic legacy.

    Accommodations and Services

    • The Hotel Wyspianski features 231 guest rooms at three levels: standard, classic and premium. Guests should be aware that, like many European hotels, all rooms feature twin beds. However, in classic and double-premium configurations, the beds are side-by-side and can be pushed together. In addition to typical hotel services, the staff at Hotel Wyspianski is available to help guests plan local trips, rent cars and arrange tourist guides. The hotel offers 15 percent discount coupons to Krakow’s Aqua Park, a water park and fitness center containing multiple pools, water slides, Jacuzzis, a climbing wall and a variety of water sports.

    Dining

    • The hotel features the Wyspianski Restaurant, which serves a variety of Polish and European dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The restaurant is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., while the bar is open from 7 a.m. to 12 a.m. Hotel Wyspianski also recommends its nearby partner Restaurant Amadeus, which provides diners with a romantic, Baroque-style atmosphere. The chef prepares both Polish and European entrees, such as goose breast with a port reduction and orange or traditional Polish veal roulades, served with buckwheat pierogi and red cabbage.

    Area Attractions

    • A five-minute walk from Hotel Wyspianski is Main Market Square – Rynek Glowny – in Old Towne Center, which is a 10-acre square anchored by historic buildings such as the 14th-century Gothic Basilica of the Virgin Mary and the 16th-century Renaissance Cloth Hall. Town Hall Tower, built in the late 13th century, is another popular attraction in Main Market Square. The area also contains numerous restaurants, bars and shops. Other nearby attractions include the Galicia Jewish Museum and Wawel Royal Castle.

    Special Packages

    • Hotel Wyspianski offers several special packages, including Valentine’s Day in Kraków, featuring a two-night stay, two buffet breakfasts and dinner for two at Amadeus Restaurant. The Family Stay package is designed for two adults and one child and features two nights in a large “classic” room, buffet breakfast, family dinner at Amadeus Restaurant and a child’s gift. Other packages include Cracow City Tour, Weekend Escape and Happy Easter specials.
