Hotels in Mulki

Mulki was a port town that connected the major port cities along India's Laccadive Seacoast. Today it is a small town located in the district of Dakshina Kannada, Karnataka. The town is known for its two Hindu temples, Sri Durga Parameshwari Temple and Sri Venkataramana Temple. Mulki is also home to the four-year college Vijaya College. Whether you are visiting the temple or the college, you can stay at a number of hotels in and around Mulki.

  1. Hotel Poonja International

    • Hotel Poonja is in the heart of the Mangalore, about 20 minutes south of Muji down Panavel Road. To reach Muji, you can take the bus or a hire a car from the hotel. The hotel's concierge can arrange a private tour of Shri Venkataramana Temple in Muji. The temple, first consecrated in the 13th century by a local chieftain, is known for its idol of Sri Ugra Narasimha.

    • Lalith Mahal Boarding and Lodging is in Mulki near the recently reopened Bappandu Temple. The hotel rooms have no air conditioning. You'll want to leave your windows open at night and should bring a mosquito net to protect you from bites as you sleep. The hotel overlooks the River Shambhavi and is within walking distance of the bus stand. The hotel has no Internet access; call for reservations and information.

    Hotel Panchami

    • Just nine minutes south of Mulki proper is the Hotel Panchami. The hotel is known for its spacious bathrooms, a rarity in India. The hotel is next to the bus station, which gives you easy access into Mulki proper. You can spend the night at Hotel Panchami and take a quick bus ride to the Sri Durga Parameshwari Temple. The temple abuts the river flowing through the center of Mulki along Main Road.

    Ginger Hotel

    • About 15 minutes south of Mulki is the Ginger Hotel. The Ginger Hotel, along with many hotels in India, has recently heightened its security procedures, and you will be required to present your passport and travel visa to the front desk upon check-in. The Ginger is a budget hotel along an urban street. It's near shopping and restaurants in Managalore. You can hire a car to take the short drive north to Mulki or you can the several minutes' walk to the bus station.
