Charlotte Douglas International Airport is one of the busiest airports in the state of North Carolina. Located seven miles to the west of downtown Charlotte, a number of hotels are available adjacent to the airport as well as closer to the center of the city. Guests staying at these hotels gain excellent access to some of the Queen City and its attractions, including a host of museums, the Charlotte motor speedway and a range of golf courses. Many hotels afford visitors a view of the city's distinctive skyline.
Located a mile from Douglas International Airport, guests at the Airport Inn enjoy excellent road access to both the airport and downtown Charlotte (six miles). While the hotel does not operate an airport shuttle service, guests with autos can utilize I-85, which is adjacent to the hotel. Free ample parking is available at the Airport Inn, with space for large vehicles such as trucks and RVs. Although no restaurants are available at the hotel, a number of options are within a two minutes' walk, including Showmar's, Shoney's, Arby's and a Subway. The Woodshed Lounge is the nearest bar to the hotel, situated almost opposite the Airport Inn. The Village Oaks shopping center is within half a mile of the hotel.
Based in the city's business district in uptown Charlotte, the Blake Hotel is located eight miles from Douglas International Airport. No airport shuttle service is offered, but shuttle will take guests to downtown Charlotte. Guests can reach the airport using the hotel's town car service, but additional charges will apply. The hotel is popular with those traveling to Charlotte for sport, with the Bank of America Stadium, home of the Carolina Panthers National Football League franchise, just minutes away. For a family day out, the Carowinds theme park is a 20-minute drive from the hotel. Guests at the hotel can utilize a full fitness facility and seasonal outdoor swimming pool for free. Valet and self parking are available, with charges applied to both. Although there is no restaurant on site, guests can enjoy the nearby Courtside cafe, Dilworth Neighborhood grill and Dressler's restaurant.
The Duke Mansion is based in downtown Charlotte, 10 miles from Douglas International Airport. The hotel does not operate an airport shuttle service. This high-end hotel is listed on the national register of historic places, and runs as a not-for-profit venture, with all proceeds used to maintain the historic hotel building. Priding itself on its service, the hotel offers a made-to-order breakfast and a 24-hour front desk. Guests can enjoy the hotels four and a half acres of landscaped gardens, with many guest rooms overlooking the lush gardens, and providing views of the Charlotte skyline. While the hotel provides breakfast, guests will have to travel farther afield for lunch and dinner. A range of cafes, bars and restaurants are available within walking distance, including Zio's Italian restaurant, Providence cafe, Planet Smoothie and Gin Bu Chinese and Sushi bar.
