Emerald Bay, located at the southern tip of Lake Tahoe on the eastern edge of California, is known for its picturesque setting and has been designated a Natural National Landmark. Wrapping around this body of water is Emerald Bay Road, which is home to multiple hotels from which visitors can enjoy easy access to the surrounding areas.
The Apex Inn, on Emerald Bay Road, has the look and feel of an old-fashioned roadside inn, lit-up vacancy signs included. The hotel does, however, have all the modern standard amenities such as air conditioning in each room, as well as cable television with HBO and high-speed internet. Breakfast is included in the price of each room, and guests are allowed to make use of the barbecue and picnic area located outside. While the weather can be on the chilly side, there is an outdoor hot tub that guests can use year-round.

The Pine Cone Acre Motel in South Tahoe is a bit more upscale than the "motel" description would suggest. The "lodge style" rooms are equipped with their own kitchens, including microwave and refrigerator and wireless high-speed Internet. The Pine Cone Acre caters particularly to Alpine weddings, with special packages that include up to 21 rooms, use of the motel's event tent and access to a list of local wedding planners. While the Pine Cone Acre does not have any restaurants on site, award-winning eateries such as The Cantina and Evan's Bistro are within walking distance.

The Fireside Lodge, also on Emerald Bay Road, is just what the name suggests--a boutique log cabin hotel with its own luxury campfire setting just outside. Inside the rooms have their own unique flair, along with such amenities as television/VCR, kitchenette and private bathroom. Some of the larger rooms even have their own fireplaces. The Fireside Lodge also has a retro game room with activities such as skee ball, pool, darts and a full-sized Pacman arcade. For an extra fee, pet dogs are welcome at the hotel.
