Only 30 miles northwest of San Antonio is the small town of Boerne, pronounced BER-nee, settled by Germans in 1849. Two small resorts nearby--the Serengeti Resort and the Tapatio Springs Resort--can offer visitors the individual attention that makes a stay in Boerne memorable.
The Serengeti Resort opened as a boutique resort in 2009. It currently offers rooms, suites and bungalows--all with expansive windows for viewing zebras, giraffes and other exotic African animals. Several South African wines also are available for tasting, as well as wine from Argentina, Chile, Australia and New Zealand. Courtyard dining, star-gazing platforms and carriage and wagon rides also are part of the Serengeti Resort experience.
Tapatio Springs Resort has 112 nonsmoking rooms as well as a 27-hole golf course. A limited number of condominiums also are available. You can enjoy beautiful Hill Country views as you explore the area. Choose from outdoor activities like fishing, horseback riding and hiking or spend your time shopping Hauptstrasse in Boerne.
