Orange County, home to Disneyland, has two large beach towns: Huntington Beach and Newport Beach. Both of these towns are relatively close to Disneyland, approximately 23 and 18 mile drives respectively. Huntington Beach, according to the town's tourism website, has the longest stretch of beach on the West Coast at 8.5 miles and is famed for its surfing scene. Newport Beach has an extensive boardwalk that dates back to the late 19th century, and has shopping, dining and biking available.

There are boat rentals nearby for fishing or sailing, and the concierge can assist you in scheduling whale watching and sport fishing trips. The 15-room Newport Beach Hotel is just 18 miles from Disneyland. This hotel has been recently renovated and many rooms have a whirlpool tub and fireplace.
