Liberty, the county seat for Casey County in Kentucky, was founded in 1806 by Revolutionary War veterans. They named the town after one of the values for which they had fought. As of the 2000 census, about 28.3 percent of the population was below the poverty line. The town does not abound with motels, but in addition to Liberty's Royal Inn Express motel, a bed and breakfast inn and a log cabin are also available.
Rooms at the Royal Inn Express include exterior corridor access, air conditioning, cable television, coffee and tea makers, free local calls, housekeeping, microwaves and refrigerators. Among its 22 rooms, 11 feature one double bed, eight have two double beds, and the remaining two rooms contain three double beds each. The inn is located about one mile from fast-food restaurants and two miles from a golf course.

The Horse & Buggy Country Inn is located just south of town, off a little country road in the hills of the South Fork Mennonite Community. Its four-room log cabin sits among pastures with horses, cows and wildlife. Guests of the four rooms share a cozy common area. Continental breakfast is provided in the morning, and the nearby restaurants include the Bread of Life Cafe, owned by the same family that manages the inn. Another family member runs the nearby Woods Creek Outfitters, which leads hunting excursions on its 2,500-acre property.

The Sandy Acres Cabin, a family-owned guesthouse in the rural outskirts of Liberty, sleeps up to eight people. In addition to central heat and air conditioning, the cabin features a satellite TV, DVD player, DVD library, wireless Internet access and a fireplace. Guests have access to a fully equipped modern kitchen as well. Guests are asked to bring their own toiletries.
