Despite the high-dollar location, rates for one night are as low as $149 per night, as of 2010. Finally, the hotel is 100 percent smoke free and free parking for one car is provided with every stay.

The Downtown Chicago Travelodge hotel is located in the South Loop area of downtown Chicago and occupies a historic building that first opened in 1928. With nightly rates as low as $149 per night including taxes, as of 2010, it is hard to find much to complain about with this downtown hotel. While the accommodation is in no way luxurious, it does offer a central location near all of the big tourist attractions and features room amenities like high-speed Internet access and coffee makers. For the price, few hotels offer better location.

Formerly a Crowne Plaza location, the Silversmith Hotel & Suites is a large, 200-plus-room hotel located very near Millennium Park. Standard guest rooms include a free morning newspaper as well as in-room CD player, coffee maker and safe. While its location near Millennium Park and the whole host of tourist attractions is worth a premium, nightly rates for a standard room are anything but premium at less than $130, including taxes, as of 2010. Due to the location of the hotel and the amenities offered, this is one of the better inexpensive downtown hotels.
