Fifteen miles from the Vermont border, Fort Ann is a small town known mainly for historical houses and the Battle of Fort Anne. Also home to camping, antiquing and a golf course, the town has one motel for tourists and two in the surrounding areas of Fort Edward and Whitehall.
A quaint little inn on George Street in the heart of Fort Ann, this historic 1800s home converted to a hotel in the 1950s was once called the Queen Anne Motel. Rooms start at $50 a night, as of August 2010, and the hotel advertises clean, cozy rooms year round. Front desk hours are 7 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. Monday through Sunday.
