Mount Rainier, the tallest mountain in Washington and in the Cascade Range at 14,411 feet, is located about 55 miles southeast of Seattle in the Mount Rainier National Park. The mountain, an active composite volcano, is notoriously difficult to climb due to the large amount of glacier terrain. The 93-mile long Wonderland Trail traverses the 3 summits. Popular activities in the region include skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, mountain biking and climbing. All lodging options have spectacular views of Mount Rainier.
Alta Crystal Resort is just outside the Mt. Rainier National Park and ten minutes from Crystal Mountain Ski Area. One-bedroom and loft chalet suites come with fully equipped kitchens, wood-burning fireplaces and outdoor seating areas. The guest rooms have a log-cabin decor. The pet-friendly hotel has a year-round outdoor heated pool and hot tub, grocery and gift shop. There is a large field for recreation and sports, as well as hiking and snowshoe trails.
