Margate is a town that includes both beachfront and bayside property along the New Jersey Shore. In addition to offering quick access to the attractions and casinos in Atlantic City, Margate is popular with beach lovers and deep-sea fishermen. Margate is a residential community and does not have its own motels. Lodging can, however, be found directly north of town of Ventnor as well as Atlantic City.
A couple of miles north of Margate in the town of Ventnor, the Carisbrooke Inn is a bed-and-breakfast hotel that is a short walk from the beach. The building is a Victorian-style establishment with high ceilings, ornate moldings and a large center staircase. The rooms feature elegant furnishings and come with either a king size, queen size or two twin beds. A homemade breakfast is served in its parlor each morning, while guests can also take advantage of a sun deck that offers a view of the ocean. Wines and other refreshments are also served in the parlor room in front of a fireplace in winter. Additional items in each of the bedrooms include HDTVs and DVD players. Every room also has a private bathroom.

The Surrey Beach House, which is two miles from Margate in Ventnor, is a boutique-style hotel with rooms equipped with heating, air conditioning, and kitchenettes with microwaves, coffee makers, refrigerators and tables. Some units also have stoves. Other room amenities include plush sheets and towels, flat-screen TVs with DVD players, hair dryers and ceiling fans. The Surrey Beach House, which was renovated in 2006, has a deck that overlooks the ocean, porches and offers guests free wireless Internet access. The beach and boardwalk are located just a few steps from the front door, while restaurants and tennis courts are also within easy walking distance. Public transportation to Atlantic City is also available near the hotel.

The Days Inn Atlantic City, which is a little more than five miles from Margate, offers visitors to the area a reasonably priced motel on the famous Atlantic City Boardwalk. Some of its rooms have a balcony that gives guests a view of the ocean. In-room amenities include hair dryers, irons, ironing boards and cable TV with premium channels. Guests can also request microwaves and refrigerators in a motel that provides wireless Internet in the lobby, a business center and a free breakfast each day. Upgraded rooms include sofa beds and an expanded living area. Another plus is free parking, which is not always the case at some of Atlantic City's hotels.
