How to Tour Den Hague, Holland

The Hague, south of Amsterdam on the North Sea, originated around 1230, when Floris IV, Count of Holland bought land to build a hunting lodge. In 1248 William II, decided to make it a palace. It is still in use for political events, such as the annual speech from the throne by the monarch. Queen Beatrix lives in The Hague, but it is not the seat of national government.

      Gamble at a casino. Holland Casino Scheveningen is a legal casino in the Netherlands. It looks like the bow of a ship and you enter through a gangway.

      Find Museum Beelden aan Zee spotlighting Sculptures by the sea. This museum is built around an old Pavilion erected in 1826 by King William. This is a with sculptures of contemporary man. An impressive bronze monument of the royal family has a permanent place on one of the patios.
