Fernleigh Lodge, in Cloyne, is six miles north of Northbrook on Kashwakamak Lake. The lake is 15 miles long, with 40 miles of shoreline. Fernleigh Lodge offers 13 cabins of various sizes. Guests have the option of the American Plan, which includes meals, or the Housekeeping Plan, which does not. Cabins are equipped with refrigerators, stoves and cooking utensils. The lodge offers a variety of recreational activities, including canoeing, water skiing, swimming, motor boating, hiking and fishing. The lodge is also equipped with a basketball court, a horseshoe pit and a playground.
Snug Harbour Resort is also in Cloyne, six miles north of Northbrook. The resort is adjacent to Frontenac Provincial Park, which features rugged terrain and a variety of wildlife. The park is home to eagles, turkey vultures, red-tailed hawks, white-tailed deer, black bears and beavers. The park also offers opportunities for fishing, hiking and canoeing. Snug Harbor Resort has 12 cabins, all furnished with refrigerators, stoves and cooking utensils. The cabins, which have lake views, also feature private yards with barbecue grills and picnic tables. Snug Harbor Resort offers boat access to Desert, Birch and Kingsford Lakes .
Pine Grove Motel, in Northbrook, offers convenient access to thousands of lakes in the Land o' Lakes region, as well as miles of hiking and biking trails. The motel is 15 minutes from Bon Echo Provincial Park, home to Mazinaw Rock, a 1.5-kilometer sheer rock face that rises above Mazinaw Lake. Mazinaw Rock features 260 native pictographs. Pine Grove Motel offers high-speed Internet access, cable television and fully furnished kitchenettes.
Colonial Inn Motel in Madoc, just over a half hour from Northbrook, is located near Jarvis Lake and Barker Lake. Madoc offers easy access to hiking trails in Bon Echo Provincial Park, Sheffield Conservation Area and Farley Mountain Conservation Area. The Madoc area also features antique shops, art galleries, golf, horseback riding, fishing and snowmobiling. Marmora, a village 17 miles from Madoc, has a farmer's market. Colonial Inn has 12 units, and offers complimentary breakfast May through September.
