Hot Spring Hotels in Japan

Japan is known for its many hot springs, called onsens in Japanese, which is a favorite vacation for both local and international travelers. Numerous hotels surround each onsen, most of which follow the traditional ryokan, or Japanese inn, style. There's a ryokan that fits nearly every taste and budget, ranging from cheap and convenient to the ultimate experience in old-style luxury. Many ryokans take advance reservations, but since not all ryokans have English-speaking staff members you may want to book your trip through a bilingual agent before departing.
