The small town of Aztec, Arizona was once a populated area. In the late 1800s it was active enough to have its own post office and for some years was a stop on the Southern Pacific Railroad in between Yuma County and Phoenix. Today a community no longer exists and the remains resemble that of a ghost town. Though a historical American town, the area attracts few tourists as there are no motels in Aztec, Arizona. The nearest lodging is about 40 minutes away in Gila Bend.
