Atlantic Beach, North Carolina is located on a barrier island in the Southeastern region of the state near the Croatan National Forest and the Cape Lookout National Seashore. The city has the Atlantic Ocean at its Southern extremity and abuts the Bogue Sound at the north. Visitors who love playing in the water will appreciate the miles of public beaches and numerous venues for fishing. Hollowell's is located two blocks from the beach and offers free lodging to children under age 12. All rooms are equipped with refrigerators and microwaves, and groups who need additional space can ask about two-room efficiency suites and the apartment unit. Rates are at their peak between May and October as this is high tourist season; minimum stays may apply during holiday weekends. Hollowell's has an outdoor pool as well as a picnic and barbecuing area for outdoor dining. There is no on-site restaurant; however, there is a diner located less than a block away.

The Sheraton is a non-smoking oceanfront hotel with 200 nautical-themed rooms with interior corridor access. Travelers with children will appreciate the special activities coordinated for children four to 10 years old through the Little Pirates program, which operates seasonally. The hotel has two on-site restaurants: an Italian-style eatery serving breakfast, lunch and dinner and also a grill serving hamburgers. All rooms have refrigerators and wireless Internet access is available for an additional fee. The Sheraton has both an indoor pool with a hot tub and outdoor pool. Guests who travel light can rent umbrellas and beach chairs from the hotel to use for a day.
