The Gulf Coast of Mississippi overlooks the Gulf of Mexico, Mississippi Sound and miles of coastal beaches. Since Hurricane Katrina devastated the area on August 29, 2005, some of the beach house rental properties have been rebuilt, and unique waterfront homes, many of which are pet friendly, are available for people vacationing in this beautiful shoreline setting. GulfCoastNews.com reports that the Katrina-damaged Beach Drive in Bay St. Louis has been restored and as of 2010, "Biloxi's historic lighthouse ... a symbol of the Coast's recovery effort ... was relit."
The Waveland vacation house called "The Red Rooster" has six bedrooms and sleeps 12. It is in a private neighborhood in Waveland, on the Mississippi Gulf Coast within walking distance of the beach. This newly renovated home has a private pool, a deck and a hot tub. Pets are allowed. The rental rates and pet fees vary by season and must be discussed with the owner when you call to inquire about the house.

The Gulf Breeze Cottage is decorated with beach decor and peaceful colors. It has three bedrooms that sleep eight and two bathrooms, an open floor plan and a view of the gulf from the living room. The Green Woods Stables Lodge is a charming farmhouse in a pastoral setting on the edge of 70 acres of pastureland with old oaks and pecan trees and a garden. Boardwalk Reality manages dog-friendly beach houses on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Non-refundable pet fees are charged, but the fee varies from house to house.
