Wells is a small coastal town in southern Maine that's a popular summer destination. It has seven miles of oceanfront and three public beaches: Wells, Crescent and Drake's Island Beach. In addition to sunbathing, you can rent a kayak at the Wells Harbor, hike at the Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge, where pets are allowed on a leash, and end your day at one of the town's pet-friendly motels.
Ne'r Beach Motel is centrally located in town. In the summer, you can take the trolley from its door to the area's beaches, shopping district and restaurants. If you stay at Ne'er Beach Motel, you'll pay an extra $10 a night for your cat or dog. No other pets are allowed and dogs can't weigh more than 50 pounds.

At Sleepytown, you have 42 motel rooms and 38 cottages to choose from built on 12 acres and surrounding a lily pond. Once there, you can park your car and take the trolley to the beach, to go shopping and to enjoy Wells's local cuisine. It will cost you an additional $15 a night to have your cat or dog with you. If you leave the room, you'll either have to take your pet along or put her in a crate.

A short trolley ride from the Wells Beach, Coast Village Inn & Cottages is also within walking distance from a shopping plaza where you'll find banks, a supermarket and cinema, a department store and several restaurants. Management allows small pets with advance notice. But they'll also add $15 to your nightly room rate.

All rooms at the Sea Mist Resort Motel have a kitchenette with a small refrigerator, microwave oven, toaster and a coffee maker. The motel is near beaches and shopping areas.
The Sea Mist designates only 4 rooms for guests traveling with pets. You'll be asked for a $100 deposit to be returned to you if inspection at the end of your stay shows no damage to the room. In addition, you'll have to pay an extra $10 per night and a non-refundable $25 cleaning fee. When you go out, you cannot leave your pet alone in the room.
