Maine Oceanfront Motels

The coast of Maine is over 3,400 miles long, with sand and pebbled beaches, rocky cliffs, islands and charming towns. Motels are a popular lodging option in Maine's beach towns. You'll find independent Maine motels to suite a range of budgets in towns and on islands all along the shore, with touring opportunities for every season.
  1. Edgewater Motel & Cottages

    • All of the Edgewater's motel rooms overlook the ocean on Salisbury Cove on Mount Desert Island, just a few miles from Acadia National Park and a short drive from the town of Bar Harbor. The eight-unit motel is set just 50 feet from the ocean. Top- and ground-level rooms all open up to the sea, giving guests a private oceanfront view in a simple, modest rental. Motel guests also have use of the Edgewater's lawns, which sprawl from the upland buildings to the sea.

    Claddagh Motel

    • The Claddagh Motel and Suites is located just walking distance from a small, semi-private cove. Some rooms have views of the ocean, and others look out onto the motel's grounds. The Claddagh is designed to bring a little bit of Ireland to the coast of Maine, with rooms decorated to give guests the feeling of an Irish cottage. A celebration of Irish culture and heritage is at the heart of this motel, with Irish breakfast tea and Irish scones served every day. The Claddagh is located just a few miles from Rockport and is the motel closest to the Samoset Resort and Golf Club, making it an excellent choice for golfers visiting the area.

    • The Tidewater Motel is as close to the ocean as you can get. Built on a bridge, the Tidewater is on and over the rolling ocean on Vinalhaven Island. Most of the rooms overlook the ocean. The backside rooms look out onto the seaside island village and Carver's Pond. The rooms at the Tidewater come in varying sizes, and some upper-floor rooms can be combined to form larger suites for families.
