The village of Horseheads, NY is a U.S. memorial dedicated to the service of the American military horse. In 1779, the relics and remains of American military packhorses who served during the Revolutionary War were buried in Horseheads. General John Sullivan had the army horses buried in the 28-square-mile memorial as a tribute, the only such honor dedicated to horses in the military. The village was incorporated in 1837.
Today, Hoseheads is the "gateway to the Finger Lakes." The historic village has plenty of tourist sites, recreational activities, museums, and wineries.
