Bayfield is located in northern Wisconsin, on Lake Superior's southern shore. The small town offers access to the Lake's Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, by way of the Madeline Island Ferry Line located at the docks near downtown Bayfield. The town features a variety of outdoor recreational activities — including hiking, boating, fishing and swimming — as well as shopping and dining options. Bayfield has several hotels that offer lake views and close proximity to the area's many opportunities.
Winfield Inn is located just north of Bayfield's downtown district. The hotel, which has 31 rooms, six full-kitchen suites and manicured gardens on the grounds, offers views of Lake Superior from its location atop a bluff about a block from the lake's edge. The inn's wraparound porch offers views of Lake Superior and the Apostle Islands. Rittenhouse Inn includes an on-site gourmet restaurant that serves breakfast and dinner year-round and lunch during the summer months. The inn also offers lodging at Rittenhouse Cottage and Le Chateau Boutin, both of which are located near downtown Bayfield.
The Bayfront Inn sits in Bayfield's downtown district, within walking distance to the Bayfield City Dock and the Madeline Island Ferry Line. The inn features 14 rooms and suites, some of which have private balconies with views of Lake Superior. All rooms have wireless Internet access, and suites with whirlpool tubs are also available. The Bayfront also offers on-site dining at Pier Plaza, which serves lunch and dinner, and can accommodate large gatherings such as birthday parties, either in the restaurant itself or by catering an event at the nearby Bayfield Pavilion.
Located just south of downtown Bayfield in a residential area, the Seagull Bay Motel offers views of Lake Superior and free wireless Internet access. Seagull Bay is within walking distance to restaurants and shops, and has a handful of lodging options, including guest rooms with kitchenettes, separate guest houses for families and large groups and cottages. Seagull Bay also offers access to a hiking trail that runs alongside the lake.
