With surrounding tropical landscape, the MGM Grand's six-acre pool complex features five pools, three whirlpools, waterfalls and a quarter-mile long lazy river, called the Backlot River. The pools are heated to 75 degrees F. and stay open from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m., with extended hours through summer months. Towels are provided by the hotel with chairs, tables, and umbrellas available for guests relaxation. Changing rooms and lockers are available on the property.
The 1,000-foot long Backlot River surrounds an island, accessible by bridges, that features a bar and cabanas. Cabanas feature a private patio, flat-screen television, safe, mini refrigerator, complimentary tubes or rafts, snacks and drinks, and a personal attendant.

Mandalay Bay's tropical 11-acre pool area offers three pools, three whirlpools, a lazy river ride, a wave pool that has a sandy beach. The beach club offers adults an upscale day-club atmosphere with lounges, music, dipping pools, poolside massage service and views of the beach. The quarter-mile long lazy river offers guests a relaxing ride along the 3 mph current with inner tubes and rafts available for rental. On the island surrounded by the lazy river there are 100-square-foot cabanas for rental. Cabanas feature a dining table, chairs, love seats and lounge chairs.
