Corporate suites offer luxury furnished accommodations in an apartment complex, condominium park, hotel or housing development. Many fine hotels and apartments provide a limited number of corporate suites reserved for short-term extended-stay guests. Some corporate suites require a minimum stay, so check with them in advance to find a suite that suits your needs. Search university off-campus housing listings, your city's visitors bureau and apartment finding websites to find lists of corporate suites in your desired location. (See Reference 1 and Resources 1 and 2.)
Subletting involves renting a room, house or apartment from a current renter for a shorter period of time than the renter's original lease. Renters often sublet their places to avoid breaking their original lease contract. Sometimes sublets offer the remainder or portion of a lease at a discounted rate, depending on the circumstances. Search and post ads on online housing listings at sites such as Craigslist.org to find renters looking for someone to sublet their place. University off-campus housing websites such as University of Pittsburgh, Harvard Divinity School and University of Minnesota provide sublet listing services for students and the public. Make sure you get the terms of the sublet in writing to avoid any hassles in the future. (See References 1, 2 and 3.)
Home and condominium owners and renters will sometimes arrange for house sitters to stay at their homes during extended vacations to take care of pets, plants and vehicles, and to maintain and watch the home for them while they are away. You can find ads for these arrangements on some house sitting websites. Note that some house sitting websites charge fees for searching and accessing their listings. Try placing and searching ads on free online housing sites to find house sitting opportunities in your desired location. Some house sitters are paid for their time, especially when taking care of pets. Other house sitting opportunities require you to pay discounted rates for your time in the home. Be sure to arrange the terms of your stay in writing to avoid legal issues. (See Reference 1.)
