The Infinity cruise liner is one of several liners in Celebrity's "Millennium" class. The Millennium class boasts luxury and elegance in the liner and offers a "lap of luxury" experience; however there are significant issues with the liner and many cruisers have been less than happy with their experience. While there are some issues, the liner itself is elegant and well appointed, but the complaints that flood in about poor experiences cannot be denied.
The Infinity cruise liner is supposedly a luxury liner and thus it was created to be more technologically advanced than other liners. Its propulsion mechanism, which is supposed to create a smoother ride, has created some serious issues for the liner. The "mermaid pod propulsion system" often breaks down and needs repair. Many cruises have been delayed, canceled or stranded because of the breakdowns on issues faced by the mechanism. Celebrity insists there is no safety issues associated with the breakdowns, however many cruisers are concerned about the issue.
The most common complaint about the Infinity liner is overcrowding and low supplies. The lack of deckchairs at the pool area and the number of people converging in one area at any given time has turned many cruises sour for vacationers. When one books a cruise, especially on a luxury liner such as Infinity they expect to be greeted with ample supplies, but that is not the case on the Infinity.
Another common complaint about the Infinity cruise ship, and all Celebrity affiliated cruises is disembarkment. Many cruisers have missed flights because of shoddy and inefficient disembarkment policies and procedures. The complaints range from poor transportation to the airport to long waits to get off the liner. Celebrity commonly books air for its passengers and thus can be held responsible for missed flights. Celebrity has been less than helpful, according to Consumer Affairs, in accommodating individuals who have had issues getting from the liner to the airport.
Celebrity also fancies itself a family liner and they attempt to create the same atmosphere on the Infinity. Because the liner is supposed to be a luxury one, many have found issues with the liner trying to accommodate both families and single-cruisers. Some cruisers have found that there are not ample accommodations for children while others have been bothered by the number of small children found on board. With little to do, children may have a difficult time staying entertained.
The excursion boutique as well as the several shops on the boat experience long wait times and hefty lines most of the time. Many cruisers have found that going to the boutiques and shops on off hours helps with the crowds, but one should not have to work around a cruise ship in order to have a good experience. The long waits and lines are enough to put some off of the liner, especially considering the prestige that the company has attempted to appoint the ship with.
