Long-Term RV Parks in Florida

Long term recreational vehicle parks generally refer to the idea that, in addition to nightly or weekly rates, they offer a lower cost monthly payment. This option is especially popular in Florida over the winter when snowbirds descend in numbers, escaping the colder northern climates, for a four to six month span of time. Park owners are willing to accept what amounts to a lesser nightly rate in return for the long term stability of clientele who want to stay half a year at a time or longer. These types of parks offer the same full services as traditional RV parks with hookups for electric, water, sewer, cable television and Internet.
  1. Suncoast RV Resort

    • Located on the Atlantic side of the state, between Miami and Cape Canaveral, Suncoast RV Resort offers a location that rarely dips below 50 degrees, even in the dead of winter, an appealing prospect for snowbirds. To directly reach this customer, Suncoast offers what they call a 6 + 6 Month Special. You pay the $150 deposit and $2,100 site rent up front ($350 monthly rate for six months), and you can store your RV unit on site for six months at the rate of $50 monthly. This option appeals to vehicle owners who would rather not move their rig back and forth every year. If traveling from far away, you'd likely spend the storage rate in gas alone.

Riverside Lodge RV Resort and Cabins

    • Just north of Tampa, on the banks of the Withlacoochee River, is the Riverside RV Resort, which used to be a fish camp but was turned into an RV park by a couple who came to Florida from Germany to escape the cold. For extended stays, you get a better rate the longer you're there. A single month costs $600 but a three month stay is only $1,200, so snowbirds looking to relocate for the winter season can save a significant amount. The Riverside Lodge's location away from major attractions and beaches might be just what you're looking for. At nearly half the price of some other options, Riverside is an excellent option for those on a fixed income.
