Home to numerous events throughout the year, such as rodeos and the Jambalaya Festival, the Lamar Dixon Exposition Center is a public campground owned by the Parish of Ascension. The park has 300 campsites, approximately one-third of which are pull-throughs. All of the sites measure 20 feet by 65 feet and have full electric, water and sewage hookups. Free wireless Internet access is available throughout the campground. For campers' convenience, the park offers restrooms, showers and a waste dump. No recreational activities are offered at the campground.

Located in nearby Convent, Sugar Hill Mobile Home and RV Park is less than 13 miles from Gonzales. The campground has 100 campsites, 80 of which are on gravel with the remaining 20 having a paved surface. All spots feature back-in parking only and measure 40 feet by 75 feet, making them large enough to accommodate big rigs as well as RVs. Each lot provides full electric, water and sewage hookups. The park has restrooms with flush toilets and showers. Sugar Hill does not offer any recreational activities on-site.

Also located in Convent, Felix Poche Plantation RV Park and Resort is less than 19 miles from Gonzales. The park features 85 RV campsites, all of which are paved. More than 20 sites are pull-throughs measuring 25 feet by 60 feet in size, while the remaining back-ins are 28 feet by 60 feet. All campsites have full water, electric and sewage hookups as well as cable television and phone connections. Guests can access wireless Internet anywhere in the resort. Each lot has night lighting, patios and its own lawn. On-site amenities include two bathhouses with flush toilets and showers and two laundry facilities. Guests can swim in the campground's pool or soak in the 12-person hot tub. Also featured is a game room with a 72-inch video screen for showing movies or live televised events. The resort serves breakfast for guests daily and has a library, video and DVD rental service as well as hiking and cycling trails.
