Washington Island Farm Museum Location: Door County, Wisconsin

The Washington Island Farm Museum is located on Washington Island in Door County, Wisconsin. Situated at the tip of the Door Peninsula extending into Lake Michigan, the museum preserves the agricultural heritage of this remote island community.

Visiting the Museum

Access requires a 30-minute ferry ride from Northport Pier at the end of Highway 42. The museum complex includes historic farm buildings, implements, and exhibits depicting island life from the 19th century onward. Open seasonally (typically June–October), it offers a glimpse into the self-sufficient farming traditions shaped by isolation and Lake Michigan's harsh climate.

Washington Island itself—35 square miles with about 700 year-round residents—is known for its lavender farms, cherry orchards, and stunning coastal scenery. The farm museum is a cultural anchor for this unique Midwestern island destination.
