Glacier Tours in Whittier, Alaska

Whittier, located a hour southeast of Anchorage, is the port of call for most of the glacier tours in the south central part of Alaska. Cruise ships leave Whittier daily and head into Prince William Sound, where you can find 26 named glaciers, and more unnamed glaciers. For those planning a cruise into Prince William Sound, there are several Anchorage-based companies that offer varying tours of the area, from day-long excursions to four-hour tours that hit the highlights. Most of these cruises occur during the tourism season of May to September.

To provide information, the tour features a Chugach National Forest Ranger on each cruise. The Chugach National Forest is the forested area around the glaciers. Amenities include a buffet of salmon and prime rib, guaranteed indoor seating and fog-free windows.
