Georgia law sets specific age and supervision rules for operating a Personal Watercraft (PWC), such as a Jet Ski or WaveRunner. Rental companies are required to enforce these state regulations.

The Rules

• Age 12–15: May operate a PWC only if accompanied onboard by a person aged 18 or older who meets boater education requirements.
• Age 16–17: May operate a PWC independently (without an adult onboard) if they have completed a state-approved boater education course and carry proof of certification. All riders must wear USCG-approved life jackets.
• Age 18+: No supervision requirement. Boater education card required if born after Jan 1, 1998.

Rental Company Policies
