Restaurants Near the Ohio Turnpike Between Toledo & Norwalk, OH

The trip from Toledo to Norwalk, Ohio, covers 68.7 miles and takes approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes by car. Most of the trip takes place on the Ohio Turnpike. Located near this highway are a number of restaurants, some of which are aimed at travelers, while others are located in towns just off the highway, such as Fremont.

    • Fricker's in Freemont, Ohio, is less than two miles from the Ohio Turnpike. This casual family restaurant was established in Ohio, spread throughout the state and eventually opened locations in Indiana and Michigan, too. It's known for its chicken wings, which come breaded or naked with a number of sauces, from hot to teriyaki. Tuesdays feature a wing special. Dinners include fried shrimp, beer battered fish, baby back ribs and a 1-lb. Porterhouse. A special menu for kids under 10 is also available.

    Petro: Iron Skillet

    • Petro has a chain of restaurants dedicated to serving truckers and travelers and one of their Iron Skillet restaurants can be found just before you get on the Ohio Turnpike leaving Toledo. Open 24 hours, seven days a week, Iron Skillet is a buffet restaurant focusing on home-style cooking. This includes a salad bar and dishes like country fried steak, fried chicken, rib-eye steak and baked potatoes. Breakfast is also served 24 hours, offering skillet eggs and home fries, omelets and fresh fruit, as well as bottomless cups of coffee to keep travelers going.

    Pisanello's Pizza

    • Pisanello's Pizza is an Ohio chain of pizza restaurants that has been around since 1955. Its location in Elmore, Ohio, is located right off the turnpike near the Schedel Arboretum and Gardens. A typical pizza restaurant, each medium pizza contains six hearty slices. Some of the choices include a plain cheese pizza, a veggie pizza and a meatzza, which is covered in toppings like pepperoni and sausage.

    818 Club

    • The 818 Club is an Irish Pub style restaurant located in the center of Fremont, about an eight-minute drive from the Ohio Turnpike. It is known for its fishbowls, which are 32-oz. goblets of draft beer. Some of the restaurant's favorites include the grilled cheese, liver and onions, shrimp stir fry, seasoned sirloin broiler and the wet burrito. Specials are available every day, typically with two choices for lunch and two for dinner. These can include anything from quesadillas to prime rib. The restaurant is closed on Sundays, but open late the rest of the week.
