    • Executive chef Tony Conte is the creator of the menu at The Oval Room, located just under a mile from the White House. This restaurant is a modern eatery serving American cuisine with Mediterranean influences. Menu favorites are the asparagus soup, caramelized sea scallops and chestnut ravioli with truffle sauce. Conte also offers a seven-course tasting menu with suggested wine pairings. The Oval Room is open seven days a week, serving lunch Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and dinner from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Dinner is served until 10:30 p.m. on weekends. Reservations for lunch are highly suggested. Valet parking is available.

    Siroc

    • Located less than one mile from the White House, Siroc blends Modern Greek and Italian cuisine. The menu is created by chef Martin Lackovic with entree dishes that do not exceed $30. The pan-seared shrimp with roasted peppers and the Capellaci, tiny pasta squares filled with lobster and corn, are specialty items. Siroc's various pasta dishes can be split into half portions. Siroc is open Monday through Friday for lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and dinner is served seven days a week from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Reservations can be made on the phone or online and valet service is offered upon arrival.

    BLT Steak

    • As the name Bistro Laurent Tourondel suggests, Chef Laurent Tourondel presents his version of the American Steakhouse with BLT Steak. The restaurant, located just three minutes from the White House, combines elements of a cozy French Bistro with modern American dining. The menu features everything from a raw bar to a three-pound broiled Maine lobster. For diners who prefer meat, a creative paper chart shows the diagram of a cow displaying its various cuts. You can also opt for genuine Japanese Kobe beef or the slightly less expensive American Wagyu beef cuts. An average dinner entree costs $25. The lunch menu features assorted salads and a vast selection of sandwiches and burgers. BLT steak is open Monday through Friday for lunch and dinner, and Saturday for dinner. Reservations are highly suggested.
