Early Check-in at Hotels

Most hotels will allow early check-in in some circumstances, and all will deny it under others. Timing, policy and a bit of luck are key.

  1. Guaranteed Early Check-In

    • Some hotels will guarantee the option of early check-in for an additional fee. The Luxor in Las Vegas is one such hotel. With the exception of paid-for services, early check-in is never guaranteed.

    Early Check-In Requests

    • Some hotels, particular during an ebb in business, will allow you to check-in early if a room is available. A phone call to the hotel the day you plan to arrive can determine if this is available.

    Other Options

    • When early check-in isn’t an option, many hotels will allow you to leave your baggage with a bellhop until your room is available. For example, the Disney resorts bellhop service delivers your bags to your room at check-in time while you visit the theme park.

    Extra Night

    • Even when early check-in is available, often it’s for travelers anticipating an arrival no earlier than 11 a.m. or noon. If your plans dictate a check-in time earlier than this, it might be necessary to book an extra night instead.
