Sightseeing in San Fransisco

San Francisco is a compact city, brimming with activities. Whether this is your first time, or your 10th, there will be plenty of sightseeing opportunities for you.

  1. The Exploratorium

    • This interactive science museum is for the young and old. With cloud machines and special mirrors, everyone experiments here.

    Bike the Golden Gate Bridge

    • Bike to Sausalito. Rental companies have packages that include a ferry trip back. But if you are in great shape, you can bicycle both ways. Note: That big downhill on the way is a long, tough uphill ride on the way back.

    Fisherman's Wharf

    • Walk around Fisherman's Wharf, grab something to eat and visit the Aquarium of the Bay. The aquarium has touch tanks, tunnels where you can see sharks and daily feedings to watch.

    Golden Gate Park

    • This park has it all: boat and bike rentals, a playground, a carousel, gardens and bicycle trails. The Victorian Conservatory of Flowers showcases exotic tropical plants. At the Japanese Tea Garden, have tea, then walk through authentic Japanese gates and over bridges.

    Yerba Buena Gardens

    • The Rooftop has a playground, with a huge slide, a labyrinth, and streams and fountains that kids are encouraged to play in. There is also a 1906 hand-carved carousel, a skating rink and Zeum, an arts and technology museum. At Zeum, kids make claymation or digital artwork, and dress up and cut a music video.

    California Academy of Sciences

    • This has a natural history museum, aquarium and planetarium.
