Limerick is the birthplace of Frank McCourt, Pulitzer Prize winner for his book, "Angela's Ashes," and social commentary of Limerick then and now. Narrated walking tours are available that allow you to visit the locations mentioned in the book and explain their significance. There are also walking tours of St Mary's Parish/King's Island and other historical landmarks.

A boat tour is a way to get a unique perspective on the Limerick coastline. The river Shannon, Ireland's longest river flows past Limerick and empties into the Atlantic after about 200 miles. You can take a guided RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) with room for eight passengers for an afternoon cruise from Limerick City down the River Shannon and take in the sites of the estuary. Tours are available from March through October, weather permitting.
