Sightseeing Bus Tours in Lake Tahoe, Nevada

Lake Tahoe is a popular summer and winter vacation and recreation destination with crystal blue waters and beautiful views of the mountains surrounding it. Many visitors come to Lake Tahoe to see the picture-perfect landscapes, but there are so many places to stop that, without a good plan, you can easily miss many of them. To make sure that you hit all the sights, take a guided sightseeing bus tour of Lake Tahoe.
  1. Lake Tahoe

    • Lake Tahoe is a large freshwater lake in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. It shares its coastline with California and Nevada. Lake Tahoe is about 22 miles long, 12 miles wide and its shoreline is about 72 miles long. Two big cities, South Lake Tahoe on the south shore and Tahoe City on the northwest shore, dominate Lake Tahoe, and a highway runs around it within sight of the shoreline almost the entire perimeter of it. Several state parks are established on the shoreline, and therefore many important parts of Lake Tahoe are protected by the U.S. Forest Service.

    Highlights

    • The first stop on the bus tour is Sand Harbor, where you will walk on the only smooth and white sand beach in Nevada and admire the magnificent view that opens over Lake Tahoe. Squaw Valley is a ski resort town that is bustling during the winter season--it was home to the Winter Olympic Games in 1960. During the summer, the town gets quiet. You can take a cable car trip up to the hills, where you will have a bird's eye view of the town with Lake Tahoe in the background. Emerald Bay is a photogenic spot. This small bay has picture-perfect views of the mountains surrounding Lake Tahoe, Lake Tahoe itself and Fannette island, the only island in Lake Tahoe. At Rubicon Point you can admire the historic Rubicon Point lighthouse. The Rubicon Point lighthouse is the highest elevated lighthouse in the U.S. Around lunch time, the tour stops at the Boatworks Mall for shopping, scenery gazing from the observation desk and lunch at one of the waterfront restaurants. You might also have enough time to take a lake cruise before the tour continues.
