Begin early in Yaletown where you can visit the marina and look at some of the yachts and boats. Yaletown is the fancy area of the city and many wealthy people live there. You might spot a few purse-sized doggies around, as well as doggie raincoats. People are really fond of animals in Vancouver--they are everywhere!
Start heading towards Chinatown and visit the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden. In Chinatown, you will find markets and stores everywhere. If you are lucky, you might be able to catch a street festival.
Walk north and visit Gastown. Gastown is a historical town, complete with streets lined with gas lights. Take a photo of you standing by the old Steam Clock that has been around for years. Go visit the many stores, souvenir shops and other attractions on the main street.
Walk towards Coal Harbour. Coal Harbour is another expensive neighborhood, and it also hosts the Vancouver Yacht Club. If you are hungry, visit the Lift Bar and Grill or the Mill Bistro that overlooks the ocean and part of Stanley Park. The Mill Bistro has some fabulous nachos to share.
Stroll through the West End where nature is at every turn. The West End is considered anywhere from Burrard Street to Denman Street. Take your camera and walk through the West End and visit English Bay.
Relax and sit on the beach and take in a lovely Vancouver sunset. This spot at English Bay will be the last part of your downtown day trip. Yachts, boats and ships will pass by, as well as Vancouver's little aqua buses.
