According to Maine law:
"A moped is a type of motor vehicle. Mopeds are subject to the same registration requirements as other motor vehicles, except mopeds are not required to be inspected."
"Every person who owns a moped shall make application for a certificate of title to such moped and registration as provided in this chapter. The requirements of the application shall be as set forth in section 1252."
