The city of Myrtle Beach in South Carolina is a popular coastal resort and shopping center located 60 miles north of Charleston. There are many things to do in Myrtle Beach with kids, indoors or outside. Local attractions include the Broadway at the Beach entertainment and shopping complex and the Myrtle Beach Speedway.
  1. Magiquest

    • Magiquest is an indoor role-playing adventure game for kids of all ages, located in the Broadway at the Beach center near the Myrtle Beach Pelicans baseball ground. Players choose a magic wand and learn to use its magical powers by becoming wizards and joining a clan to go on a quest, using hints, clues and magic to defeat the bad guys. Kids cast spells, challenge creatures like dragons and goblins, visit unicorns and save princesses. The experience includes music and special effects that create a magical world around the players. After the adventure is over, players can continue the game in an online version, competing in duels against other "Magi" and keeping their scores, wands and any powers earned. As of 2010, Magiquest is open from September to mid-May on Monday to Saturday between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. Open hours from mid-May to August are every day from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

    Children's Museum of South Carolina

    • The Children's Museum of South Carolina is located next to the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. It is an educational and economical way to spend a day, no matter what the weather. The museum offers activities to suit kids of all ages including a planetarium show, giant bubble-making center, arts and crafts area, fossil hunts and trips out to sea on the U.S.S. Kids Afloat. The museum hosts regular special events such as Alice in Wonderland exhibitions and family fitness days. Children 1 year old and younger pay no admission charge. As of 2010, open hours are from Tuesday to Saturday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The museum closes on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Day, Fourth of July and Thanksgiving.

    Myrtle Beach State Park

    • Myrtle Beach State Park is located on the coast behind the old Air Force base and features miles of forest with hiking trails and beach access, picnic areas with tables and shelters, cabins, a campground, public restrooms, children's playground, camping and a fishing pier. Activities include bird watching, horse riding trails and swimming. There is no admission charge for kids younger than 5 years old. As of 2010, the park is open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
