Country Western Bars in Ohio

Hundreds of years ago, the Ohio Country was a violently disputed piece of land that was part of the conflict surrounding the French and Indian War. Today, country has a new meaning in Ohio; numerous bars in the state keep the excitement and thrill of country western music and the country lifestyle alive.

    • The Dusty Armadillo country bar in Rootstown offers entertainment for any group interested in country music and lifestyle.

      The saloon is open Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, and different special events happen each night. Wednesday is college ID night, with discounted cover charge for students with a valid college ID. There are country dance lessons held at 7 p.m., and after 8 p.m. any patron over the age of 21 gets in without a cover charge. Fridays are girls nights out, where all ladies get in for free before 11 p.m. There are also dance lessons from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturdays featuring live music from either bands or DJs. Sundays are all ages nights, with no smoking and no alcohol served. There are dance lessons from 5 to 6 p.m. so that the whole family can get involved.

      Thursday nights at the club are reserved for special events like concerts or parties. The specials and cost of these nights depends on the event.

    Saddle Ridge Saloon

    • Open Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, the Saddle Ridge Saloon in Cleveland offers a variety of entertainment options for its patrons.

      Thursday nights are College ID nights, and the bar is open to anyone 18 years or older (the drinking age is still 21, however). Students with a valid college ID receive $2 off of their cover charge. Events on Thursdays include a wet T-shirt concert and contests for riding the mechanical bull. Friday is ladies night, and any lady over the age of 18 does not have to pay a cover charge. The bar features free line dance lessons and bull rides until 9 p.m., as well as drink discounts. Every Saturday night is a dance party with discount covers and drinks for ladies until 9 p.m.

    Sundance Saloon

    • The Sundance Saloon, also called Screamin' Willie's, has hosted such prestigious country acts as the Charlie Daniels Band, Rascal Flatts and Kenny Chesney. Located in Columbus since 1980, the saloon keeps country western music alive every day.

      The saloon is open each Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and can be rented on any day for special parties such as reunions and bachelor/bachelorette parties.

      Beyond the numerous country western concerts, the saloon offers a dance floor with occasional coordinated line dances, a mechanical bull and battle of the bands contests.

      For those looking for variety, the Sundance Saloon doubles as a Top 40 dance club, providing a variety of enterainment for any crowd.
