English Speakers in Azerbaijan

As of 2023, an estimated 1 million people in Azerbaijan (about 10% of the population) speak English to some degree. English is not an official language (Azerbaijani is), but it is widely used in business, higher education, tourism, and the oil/gas sector. Proficiency is highest in Baku and among younger, urban professionals.
