How to Take Prescription Drugs on International Flights

Anyone who takes prescription drugs probably needs them on a regular basis. As such, if you are traveling overseas, you want to make sure that you have enough medication for the entire trip. With tightened security, the TSA sometimes performs random searches in order to make sure that people are not bringing illegal drugs overseas. Even if you don't have any trouble with TSA, you might run into difficulties at your international destination.

Instructions

    • 1

Pack your medications in their original bottles. The bottles should have your name, your doctor's name and pharmacy on the labels.

    • 2

Make sure that the caps are tightly closed, and place the bottles in a carrying case. Do not put any other items in the case.

    • 3

Put your medication bag in your carry-on luggage. If possible, put it in the bag that fits under your seat, as opposed to the overhead bin.

    • 4

Look at your watch. On your flight to your destination, you want to take your medication at your normal time. Once you're overseas, and you've adjusted to the time zone, you can take your pills on the local time.
