Ecuador's Currency: The US Dollar Since 2000

Ecuador uses the United States Dollar (USD) as its official currency.

Adopted on September 9, 2000, replacing the sucre (which suffered hyperinflation). U.S. coins and bills circulate; Ecuador mints its own centavo coins (1, 5, 10, 25, 50 centavos) equal to US cents.
