There is no "Canberra Mint." Australia’s circulating coinage is struck at the Royal Australian Mint (RAM) in the suburb of Deakin, Canberra. (The historic Perth Mint produces bullion and collectibles.)

Production Capacity

• Up to 180,000 coins per hour on high-speed presses.
• Running two 8-hour shifts: ~2.88 million coins/day theoretical max.
• Typical daily output: 1.4–1.8 million coins (allows for die changes, maintenance, changeovers).
• Annual capacity: ~2 billion coins.

What They Make

Circulating denominations: 5c, 10c, 20c, 50c, $1, $2. Also produces collector coins, medals, tokens, and foreign-country orders (e.g., Pacific nations).

Fun Fact

The Mint’s robot "Titan" moves 3-tonne coils of metal; the facility offers free public tours and a shop selling mint-set coins and gold bullion.
