Dos mil pesetas was a banknote of the Spanish peseta. It was issued by the Banco de España from 1987 to 2001. The note depicts the portrait of the writer Pío Baroja on the obverse and the Puerta de Alcalá in Madrid on the reverse.

Obverse

The obverse of the note features the portrait of Pío Baroja, a prominent Spanish writer of the 20th century. Baroja is depicted in profile, facing left. To the left of the portrait is his name, "Pío Baroja", and below it, the dates of his birth and death, "1872-1956". To the right of the portrait is the seal of the Banco de España.

Reverse

To the left of the gate is the coat of arms of Spain. To the right of the gate is the denomination of the note, "2000 pesetas", and below it, the year of issue, "1987".

The dos mil pesetas note is no longer legal tender in Spain. It was replaced by the euro in 2002. However, it still has some value as a collector's item.
