Who is TB Joshua?

Temitope Balogun Joshua (June 12, 1963 – June 5, 2021), commonly referred to as T. B. Joshua, was a Nigerian charismatic pastor, televangelist, and philanthropist. He was the leader and founder of The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN), a Christian megachurch that runs a Christian television station, Emmanuel TV.

T.B. Joshua was born on June 12, 1963, in Arigidi Akoko, in what was then known as the Western Region of Nigeria. His father was a soldier, and his mother was a housewife. He was raised in a Christian household and began preaching at a young age.

In the early 1980s, Joshua began his own ministry. He quickly gained a reputation as a powerful healer and prophet. In 1987, he founded The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations, which quickly became one of the largest megachurches in Africa.

SCOAN became a popular tourist destination for both Nigerians and foreigners seeking spiritual healing and guidance. Joshua's church offered various services, including faith healings, deliverances, and prophecies. He also established several charitable organizations, such as the Emmanuel TV Partners Ministry and the TB Joshua Foundation.

T. B. Joshua's ministry was controversial, and he was often accused of fraud and exploitation. However, he remained immensely popular with his followers, and his church continued to grow in popularity. He died on June 5, 2021, a week before his 58th birthday.
