What are your options if you lost German passport and need to get a new one in the US?

You can find a list of German embassies and consulates in the US on the website of the German Federal Foreign Office.

Bring the following documents to the embassy or consulate:

- A valid photo ID (e.g. a driver's license or passport from another country)

- Two recent passport photos

- Proof of your German citizenship (e.g. a German birth certificate or naturalization certificate)

- A police report if your passport was stolen or lost

- The applicable passport application fee

Once you have submitted your application, the embassy or consulate will issue you a new German passport within a few weeks.
