1. Education: Hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
2. Experience: Have at least three years of experience working in the insurance industry. This experience can be gained through employment in an insurance company, insurance agency, or other related field.
3. Education: Have a master’s degree in a related field, such as business administration or education, is preferred but not required.
4. Training: Complete the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance (DOBI) approved insurance instructor training program. This program covers topics such as insurance law, regulations, and teaching methods.
5. Examination: Pass the DOBI insurance instructor examination. This examination tests your knowledge of insurance and teaching methods.
6. Application: Submit an application to the DOBI for an insurance instructor license. The application fee is $100.
7. License: Once your application has been approved, you will be issued an insurance instructor license. This license must be renewed every two years.
In addition to the above requirements, you must also meet the following continuing education requirements:
* Complete 15 hours of continuing education every two years. This education can be taken through approved providers, such as insurance companies, insurance agencies, and other related organizations.
* Keep a record of your continuing education hours and submit it to the DOBI every two years.
