Kama'ole I, II and III beaches cover the entire Kihei coast and are across the street from all the hotels in Kihei. Kama'ole I, II and III have gentle shore breaks washing into white sand beaches and lifeguards on duty, making them among the safest family beaches on Maui. Besides swimming and tanning, you can also snorkel on all of them.
In addition to Lahaina, Kihei is the ideal place to try scuba diving and learn to surf or windsurf. Several diving companies use Ma'alaea Harbor as their check-in point. Whether you are already a certified diver or wanting to take the PADI Open Water Diver course, you will have plenty of options for your skill level. Maui is known for its excellent wind conditions, making it one of the best places to try windsurfing or kitesurfing. Various wave conditions also make it a good place to try surfing. In addition, you can rent a glass-bottom kayak to admire the marine life or see the island from a different perspective while parasailing or paragliding.
Ma'alaea Harbor, which is close to Kihei, offers many options for sailing trips. You may choose to spend a fun-filled day on a sailboat, go snorkeling, or see numerous fish and other marine life on a sailing trip to Molokini Island. Molokini's clear water makes it easy to view the marine life, and the ocean conditions for snorkeling are suitable for the entire family. If fishing is your passion, you can try your luck on catching dinner. At night you can take a dinner cruise and watch the sunset while tasting the delicious flavors of traditional Hawaiian dishes. Whale watching season is from January through the end of May, when humpback whales come to Hawaii to give birth.
Azeka Place is Kihei's largest shopping center, with more than 50 shops and restaurants to check out. Its location in the center of Kihei makes it a top shopping destination. In addition to Azeka Place, Piilani Village Shopping Center, Kamaole Shopping Center and Rainbow Mall are located in Kihei. You'll also find other shops to explore and find all the souvenirs and Hawaii mementos you need.
Kihei's championship-level golf course, Elleair Golf Club, is located close to five other golf courses in Wailea and Makena. Elleair is suitable for golfers with different skill levels, and it offers an inviting opening hole, reachable holes facing each cardinal point of the compass, and the prevailing trade winds that will test your skills and reward you if you make good decisions. In addition, you will be swinging with a view --- the Pacific Ocean, Auau Channel, Haleakala, Molokini and the West Maui Mountains.
