How to Call to Argentina From the USA

Placing an international phone call to Argentina requires you to know several important numbers. You will need much more than the local phone number of the individual in Argentina that you are trying to reach. Though numbers in the United States have a standard format, the length of Argentinean area codes and phone numbers vary by location and cellular phones are treated differently than land lines. With the proper sequence of numbers, you can easily place this international call.

  Dial 011. This is the international exit code for calls originating in the United States.

  Enter 54, the country code for all numbers in the country of Argentina.

  Dial 9 if are calling a cell phone. If you are calling a land line, omit this step.

  Enter the area code for the part of Argentina that you are calling. This can be two, three or four digits. Buenos Aires, for example, is 11, while San Juan is 264 and Posadas is 3752.

  Enter the local phone number for the Argentinean individual or company you are trying to reach. This number can range from six to eight digits in length, depending on the length of the area code. The total number of digits for the area code and local number will always equal ten for calls to Argentina.
